The Beasley Funeral Home was established in 1947 in Laurens, South Carolina, by founder Cardell "C.D." Beasley. At that time, Marion Beasley, former president and owner, was fourteen years of age. He assumed a variety of duties, such as floor sweeper, car washer, and assistant to the grave diggers. Marion is a 1951 Graduate of the Thomas Sanders High School, Laurens, South Carolina. After graduation, he became an assistant ambulance/hearse driver. Later in 1955, he became a licensed funeral director.

In June of 1958, Marion graduated from the Atlanta College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. In July of 1958, he became a licensed embalmer and continued his staff membership with Beasley Funeral Home in Laurens, SC. After many years of successful service in the Laurens area, Beasley Funeral Home established its second location at 205 Knight Street in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. It held an open house and dedication on August 27, 1961.

Marion became the manager and resided upstairs in the funeral home. After establishing residence in Fountain Inn, Marion has shown leadership to the State of South Carolina, Greenville County, the City of Fountain Inn, and the Laurens and Greenville area. For his unselfish leadership, he has received many appointments and awards. Namely, a few are: First black in history to be appointed to the South Carolina Probation, Parole and Pardon Board in 1969 by Governor Robert McNair. First black chairman of the board in 1985, at which time, Governor Richard Riley presented him with The Order of the Palmetto.

At his retirement from the board in 1995, Governor David M. Beasley presented him with another Order of the Palmetto, making him a Palmetto Gentleman twice. He served twenty-six years on the board, making him the longest-serving parole board member in the United States.
