Sister Virginia Mae Gary Goldsmith, age 79, of Greenville, South Carolina, Moved from labor to reward on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving, caring, and resolute family. Born on Wednesday, October 18, 1944, in Greenville, South Carolina a daughter to the late Willie Gary and Sarah Louise Gary. She attended the public schools of Greenville County and graduated from Washington High School.
Virginia, being born in a devout Christian home, professing her faith at an early age, united in membership with her parents to the United House of Prayer For All People. Sister Virginia supported and participated in the church until her health began to decline.
It was her humble and caring spirit that gained her employment in the housekeeping department at St. Francis Hospital, her dedication to details quickly gained her the position of supervisor serving for thirty-two-plus years until her retirement.
She is survived by one son, Pierre (Patricia) Gary of Simpsonville, South Carolina; two daughters, Michelle Whitmire and Rena Goldsmith both of Greenville, South Carolina; three brothers, Robert (Sharon) Floyd of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Charles Floyd of Greenville, South Carolina and Jackie (Bess) Floyd of Columbia; three sisters, Cynthia (Larry) Davis, Agnes Glenn both of Greenville, South Carolina and Kathy Floyd of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Homegoing Celebration of the Life of Sister Virginia Mae Gary Goldsmith will be 2:00 pm Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the House of Prayer For All People with Elder H. Ross officiating and Elder C. Smith presiding. Public viewing will be from 10-7 pm on Friday, September 6, 2024 in the Chapel of Beasley Funeral Home Greenville.
Interment will be 12N Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Pinedale Memorial Park Piedmont. SC
The family is at the home.
