Reverend Rufus East, age 91, of 100 Hickory Street, Abbeville, SC, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024. Born in Laurens County, SC, he was a son of the late Pettis East and Carrie Powers East. He is survived by two sons, Luther Sullivan and Cedric Cherry; three daughters, Pamela East Smith, Tomekia East Williams and Torria East Johnson; two sisters, Nannie Workman and Ruby Campbell; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Bethel Grove AME  Church, Gray Court, SC.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.. The family is at the home of a sister, Ruby Campbell, 222 Pleasant View Drive, Gray Court.
