The Life and Legacy of Reverend Robbie Lee Evans

Reverend Robbie Lee Evans was born on January 8, 1945 to the late Robert Workman and Willie B. Henry.  She was lovingly raised in the home of her grandmother, Daisey Blakely, where the foundation of love, family and faith became an important part of the woman she would become.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Reverend Robbie Lee Evans transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home.  Though her family and loved ones mourn her passing, they are comforted by the precious memories she leaves behind and the knowledge that she is now resting in the presence of the Lord.

Reverend Evans was educated in the Greenville County School System.  She had a genuine heart for caring for others and answered that calling through a career in nursing.  She attended Greenville Technical College where she earned degrees as both Licensed Practical Nurse and a Registered Nurse.

For many years, Reverend Evans faithfully served in the healthcare profession.  She worked at Hillcrest Hospital and later retired for Summit Place in Simpsonville, South Carolina.  Nursing was more than a profession to her - it was an extension of the compassionate heart of God had given her.  She cared for others with patience, love, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those entrusted to her care.

Reverend Evans also had a deep and abiding love for God.  Called to ministry early inf life, she faithfully answered God's calling and ordained under the leadership of Reverend Sylvester Golden, Sr.  She became a longtime, dedicated member and associate minister of Golden View Baptist Church, where she served God and His people with love and faithfulness.

Her journey was not always easy.  Reverend Evans endured many seasons of sickness and hardship, yet she continued to fight the good fight.  Through every challenge, her faith remained a source of strength.  Her life was a testimony of perserverance, love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, minister, nurse, and friend.  To those who knew her and loved her, she was so much more than the titles she carried.  She was a woman who poured into her family, cared deeply for others, and left pieces of her heart in the lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, Reverend Evans was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James B. Evans; her daughters, Bobby Jane and Angela Suehiro; and four brothers, Eland Workman, Patrick Workman, Arthur Workman Sr., and Sam Henry Jr.

Those left to cherish her precious memory include her son, James Bunny Evans of the home; two daughters, Minister Virginia (Dale) Rosemond and Minister Lisa Criswell both of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Erica Cress of the home; one brother, John Workman of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Alice (Albert) Green and Daisey Henry; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a special niece, Rene (Calvin) Johnson.

Her family her family will forever cherish the love she gave, the wisdom she shared, the prayers she prayed and the memories she created.  Her voice may be quiet now, but the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, and the love she gave will continue to speak for generations to come.

Reverend Evans fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith.  Her earthly journey has come to an end, but her legacy of faith, love, compassion, and service will live on through children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, church family, and all who were blessed to know her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever cherished.
