The Life and Legacy of Reverend Robbie Lee Evans

Reverend Robbie Lee Evans was born on January 8, 1945, to the late Robert Workman and Willie B. Henry. She was lovingly raised in the home of her grandmother, Daisy. On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Reverend Evans peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home.

She was educated in the Greenville County School System. Pursuing her passion for caring for others, she attended Greenville Technical College, where she earned nursing degrees as both a Licensed Practical Nurse and a Registered Nurse.

Reverend Evans devoted many years of compassionate service to the healthcare profession. She worked for many years at Hillcrest Hospital and later retired from Summit Place in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Her career reflected her caring spirit and commitment to improving the lives of those entrusted to her care.

Called to the ministry early in life, Reverend Evans faithfully answered God’s call and was ordained under the leadership of the late Reverend Sylvester Golden Sr. She was a longtime, dedicated member and associate minister of Golden View Baptist Church. Her life was marked by unwavering faith, devoted service, and a sincere love for God and His people.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Evans; her daughter, Angela Suehiro; and four brothers, Eland Workman, Patrick Workman, Arthur Workman Sr., and Sam Henry Jr.

Those left to cherish her precious memory include her son, James B. Evans of the home; two daughters, Erica (Bob) Cress of the home and Minister Virginia (Dale) Rosemond of Simpsonville, South Carolina; another daughter, Minister Lisa Criswell of Simpsonville, South Carolina; her son-in-law, Dave Suehiro of Pickens, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special niece, Rene (Calvin) Johnson; and a host of other relatives, church family members, and dear friends.

Reverend Robbie Lee Evans lived a life of faith, compassion, and service. Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the ministry she rendered will remain an enduring testament to a life well lived.

Her final earthly resting place will be Greenville Memorial Gardens.
