Reverend Rubin Governor Alexander, a renowned gospel artist received his wings on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, singing praises as he placed his hand in the hands of the Glory Train Conductor. He was born February 11, 1940, in Pickens County, South Carolina, the son of the late Will Alexander and Sally Grace Winters Alexander.
Rubin was no stranger to the gospel music as a young man he practiced and mastered his craft as a "Singing Servant" spreading the goodness of God through song.
Governor as he was called leave to cherish many wonderful memories, and life lessons, three sons, Timothy Governor (JoAnne) Alexander, Christopher Rubinson (Beverly) Alexander, and Corey Mitchell (Elizabeth) Alexander; two daughters, Debbie Colet (Victor) Sherman, and Legra Fellisha Abney; three brothers, Reverend Ben Alexander, Robert Alexander, and Marcellus Alexander; twenty grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life and Legacy will be 11:30 am, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Valley Brook Outreach Baptist Church in Pelzer, South Carolina. Public viewing will be on Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Beasley Funeral Home-Greenville. Interment will be private.
The family is at 3 Parkston Avenue, Greenville, South Carolina, the home of his daughter and son-in-aw Debbie C. (Victor) Sherman.
