Rev. James A. Gray, Sr., age 89, of 498 Bramlett Road, Laurens, SC, died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, SC. A son of the late Stacy Gray and Lillie Stevens Gray and husband of the late Madge Gray, he was the former pastor of several churches including Zion Hill Baptist Church and Little River Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, James A. (Jeraldine) Gray, Jr. of Greenville, SC and Keith (Gwenevere) Gray of Simpsonville, SC; three daughters, Phyllis Wise of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary J. (Leon) Ferguson of Greenville, SC and Susie (Yancy) Williams of Gray Court, SC; two sisters, Helen Westfield of Enoree, SC and Pauline Massey of Laurens, SC; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Beaverdam Baptist Church, with Dr. O.T. Hill and Rev. Andy Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites. The family is at the home. Beasley Funeral Home, Laurens.
