Evangelist Juanita Robinson Richey departed this life, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Prisma Health Hospice surrounded by loving family. Born on May 21, 1942, in Greenville South Carolina, she is the daughter of Eloise Goode Robinson Richardson and Roscoe Robinson. She was educated in the public schools of Greenville, SC and a 1960 graduate of Sterling High School. She attended Greenville Technical College.
Evangelist Richey was a devoted wife and mother who loved reading, music and travel. She was a gifted seamstress who was known for tailored men's suits and custom wedding gowns and attire. She studied cosmetology at an early age and was known for her ability to style hair. An excellent cook, her cakes, pies and other foods were highly sought after. She was active in the community even into her senior years. She participated in programs at the West Greenville Community Center and was crowned the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Senior Queen, 2000.
Evangelist Richey devoted her life to Christ at an early age joining the Macedonia Baptist Church. She later became a licensed minister under Reverend A.B. Sherman. Her ministry allowed her to minister all over the country under the direction of national evangelists and other ministries. She became an ordained evangelist in 1986 after joining St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greenville. She was ordained National Evangelist for the Mount Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Churches of America. She leaves to morn her loss, her husband of 62 years, L.C. Richey, one daughter, Kimberly Richey of Charlotte, NC, three sons, Lewis Charles Richey and Rodney (Lola) Richey of Greenville and Michael Richey of Columbia, Maryland; grandchildren, Andrea (Charvis) Gray, Charvis Richey, Jewell Allen Richey, Jonathan Richey, Joseph Richey, Xavier Allen of Greenville. Three sisters, Robbie George of South Orange, N.J., Vicki (Greg) Hall of Columbus, Georgia and Kay Brazile of Baltimore, Maryland; devoted cousin, Dr. Clarence Dollison, Jr of Columbia, SC; three sisters-in-law, Emma Connor, JoAnne Wright, and Evelyn Cruell of Greenville, SC; six great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased in death by a daughter, Russell Richey Chen and sister, Mary Robinson.
Public viewing will be on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 10-6pm.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday December 10, 2022 at Beasley Funeral Home Greenville Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
