Mr. John R. Carter, age 83, the former Mayor of Gray Court, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the NHC in Greenville, South Carolina he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy Hill Carter of the home; two sons, Wadis Boxton (Patricia) and Kris Carter; three stepchildren, Jason Hill (Jameica), Natalie Cline, and Layna Hill; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, Gray Court, South Carolina, with Pastor C Lamont Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation and Masonic Rites will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Beasley Funeral Home in Laurens.

The Carter family will receive friends daily from 2-7 pm at 214 Willis Street, the family home.
