Mr. James Ray Stokes, age 64, of 534 Greene Street, Laurens, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at his home. Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Roy Lee Stokes and Mattie B. James Stokes and a member of the White Plain Baptist Church. He is survived by three brothers, Johnny Stokes of Anderson, Willie (Rebecca) Stokes and Charles Stokes of Laurens; two sisters, Clara Pearl Stephens and Madaline Pitts of Laurens. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Beasley Funeral Home Chapel, Laurens, with Dr. Johnny L. Johnson and Rev. Eliza Miller officiating. Burial will be in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home. Beasley Funeral Home, Laurens is in charge of arrangements.
