Obituary

Mr. James Wilbert D'Oyley was born November 17, 1949, in Greenville, SC, He departed this life on July 05, 2024, at his home located in Powdersville, SC. He was the son of the late James D'Oyley Sr. and Juanita Wright Huntley. He was a dedicated member of Joy of the Lord Ministries Greenville, SC. He was preceded in death by two sisters Evelyn Fuller, Betty Choice, and one brother, Gary D'Oyley.

He leaves to cherish his great memories, one daughter, Tangi (Sayon) Cooper of Atlanta Ga, and one son, Anwar D'Oyley of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by three sisters; Thelma (Vernon) of Mauldin, SC, Denise Huntley of Baltimore, Md, Brenda Huntley Taylor (Samuel) of Victoria, Va, and five brothers; Larry (Sandi) Huntley of Birmingham, Al, Clyde Huntley of Greenville, Stanley (Angela ) Huntley of Simpsonville, SC, and Joe D'Oyley and David D'Oyley, both of Greenville, SC.

Six grandchildren Tiara, Talia, Tyla, Dianna, Taylor and Laila, and five great grandchildren, Karsyn, Kabria, Tylen, Royal, and Amryn, and his extended family in Baltimore Md (Johhny, Wesley, Clarence, Sarah, Vanessa) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

James was a graduate of Sterling High School class of 1969 and in that same year he joined the United States Marines Armed Forces where he faithfully served our country. He was a Sheriff Deputy with the Greenville County Sheriff's Department. In his later years he enjoyed being with his veterans' friends at the VFW Post where he worked on special projects to help disabled veterans. He was an avid football fan and he and his brothers were always having a great debate on the status of whose team was the best.

James loved his church family and being an active member serving others. His treasure was his children and his grandchildren. He enjoyed being with family here and in Baltimore where there is a long family history. He was always grateful for what God had blessed him with. He will be missed by all and may his soul rest in peace.

Viewing and Visitation will be on Friday July 12, 2024 from 10am-8pm, family will receive friends from 7pm-8pm at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at New Harvest Ministries COGIC Mauldin, SC 29662.

Interment will be Monday July 15, 2024 at 1pm at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson SC.
