Mrs. Helen Rice Shumate, age 94, of 106 Holley Court, Simpsonville, SC, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Onnie Winford Rice and Ludie Rice and wife of the late Lee Roy Shumate.

She was the last living survivor of thirteen children.

She was educated in the public schools of Greenville County.

She married the love of  her life, Lee Roy Shumate on March 7, 1953 and they relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey and she was employed with Bristol-Meyers Squibb for thirty-eight years in the packaging department.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, SC. In 1992 they returned home and she joined the Reedy Fork Baptist Church, Simpsonville, SC where she attended faithfully until her health started to decline.

Preceding her in death are her loving husband, Lee Roy Shumate of sixty-six years; nine sisters and three brothers.

Left to cherish fond memories is her nieces, nephews and God daughters.

Funeral arrangements are private and there will be no public viewing.

The family is at their respective homes.
