Mrs. Dorothy S. Barksdale, age 84, of Simpsonville, South Carolina passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Simpsonville Post Acute Nursing Facility. Born in Laurens County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Henry Sexton and Corneilia Cunningham Sexton. She was educated in the public schools of Laurens County and a member of the St. Mary AME Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. She is survived by two daughters, Towana Barksdale of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Sophia Barksdale of Greenville, South Carolina; two sons, Dewayne Barksdale, and Timothy Barksdale both of Greenville, South Carolina; one sister, Jessie Mae Scearce; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Public Viewing will be on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Beasley Funeral Home Greenville Chapel from 10am-6pm.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 1p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023, at Mount Carmel AME Church in Gray Court, South Carolina. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
