Obituary

John Columbus "Mr. Jack" Jackson Jr. was born on May 15, 1936, to the late Rev. John Columbus. Jackson and Verdie Lee Burnside Jackson of Simpsonville, South Carolina. The oldest of six siblings, he was affectionately known as "Mr. Jack" by those that knew and loved him. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers -John Wade Jackson, and adopted brother Jesse James Jackson, two sisters- Helen Patricia Harris, Linda Mae Machen and his son Travis Jackson.

He grew up in the Reedy Fork community of Simpsonville, where he joined the Reedy Fork Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age. He was an active member of Sunday School and sang in quartets and choirs. Mr. Jack had a fond love for music, and a true passion for Major League Baseball and fishing. He was a dedicated employee of GHS for 33 years, retiring from Hillcrest Hospital as a maintenance supervisor.

Mr. Jack was first married to the late Evg. Rosa Lee Jackson Caldwell, and from this union they shared three children: Barbara (the late Gilliam) Bonaparte of Mauldin, SC, Jacqueline (Keith) Pearson of Piedmont, SC, and the late Travis (Yumicka) Jackson of Greenville, SC. Later in life, he married the late Ella Cook Flemming Jackson and from this union he was blessed with bonus children: Darnell (Jo-Ann) Flemming of Simpsonville, SC, Ronald (Kashana) Flemming of Piedmont, SC, Lucille (Sammy)Gilliam of Simpsonville, SC, Genora Flemming of Greenville, SC, and Venus (Willie) Shaw of Greenville, SC.. Mr. Jack has two sisters Maime L. (Calvin E.) Owens of Simpsonville, SC and Minnie L. (the late Freddy R.) Bennett of Taylors, SC.. A special granddaughter JaKayla Jackson of Greenville, SC and a special grandson Javion Wright of Greenville, SC along with a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be on Friday August1, 2025 from 1pm-5pm at Beasley Funeral Home, Greenville.

Graveside Service will be on Saturday August 2, 2025 at 10:00am at Reedy Fork Baptist Church Cemetery
