Mrs. Burdie Bell Irby, age 81, of 301 Reedy Fork Road, Apt. 134-A, Laurens, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Self Regional Health Care in Greenwood, SC. A daughter of the late Walter Shumpert and Louise Fuller Shumpert and wife of the late Leonard Irby, she was a former employee of Watts Mill. She is survived by two sons, Walter (Lorraine) McDowell of Fountain Inn, SC, Johnny Lee Cunningham of Brooklyn, NY; five daughters, Rachel (Michael) Stoddard, Gloria McDowell, Rosemary McDowell, Mary Lee McDowell, Minnie Louise McDowell all of Laurens, SC; two brothers, Walter J. Shumpert of Clinton, SC, Henry L. (Alice) Shumpert of Enoree, SC; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Rocky Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Wymond Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
