Mrs. Betty James, age 81 of 9781 Highway 101 South, passed away, Friday, March 24, 2023 at McCall Hospice House, Simpsonville, SC. Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Fred Spurgeon and Alice Parks Spurgeon. She is survived by her husband, Willie James, Sr. of the home; two sons, Willie (Alfreda) James, Jr. of Gray Court and Reginald (Amy) James of Fountain Inn; three daughters, Priscilla (Wendell) Curenton, Shirley (Ricky) Pulley of Gray Court and Latoya (Kendall) Cheeks of Simpsonville; one brother, Charley (Ursula) Spurgeon of Greenville; one sister, Margaret (Lawrence) Evans of Greenville; thirteen grandchildren of which one was reared in the home, Latrevious James; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Howard Richardson of Atlanta, GA; one sister-in-law, Wessie Harris of Gray Court and two god-daughters, Johnetha Booker and Lisa Mack.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Mill Rock Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
