Mr. Waymon Willie Lee McDowell, Jr., age 74, of 219 Independence Avenue, Laurens, died Wednesday, M arch 6, 2019 at his home. Born in Laurens, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Waymon McDowell, Sr. and Ethel Mae Anderson McDowell. He is survived by his wife, Annie J. McDowell; two sons, Shannon Jackson of Pelzer and Reverend Willie McDowell, Jr. of Simpsonville; two daughters, Synthia Baines and Verella Golson of Simpsonville; three brothers, Curtis McDowell and John McDowell of Laurens and Allen McDowell of Gray Court; three sisters, Annette Downs of Simpsonville, Mattie Garrett of Gray Court and Rita McDowell of Laurens; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Beaverdam Baptist Church, with Rev. Willie J. McDowell, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Coretta Bates, 302 Blue Sage Place, Simpsonville, SC. Beasley Funeral Home, Fountain Inn is in charge of arrangements.
