Mr. Howard Louis Wharton, Sr., age 62 of 303 Fork Road, Fountain Inn, SC, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Ezell Wharton and Georgia Jones Wharton, a retiree of Fisher Barton in Fountain Inn, SC, a member of the Mt. Carmel AME Church and a 1969 graduate of Bryson High School. He is survived by three sons, Robert (Reba) Sullivan of Fountain Inn, Howard Wharton of Greenville, SC, Marco (Valerie) Wharton of Myrtle Beach, SC; two daughters, Wakisha (Undray) Luster of Greenville, SC, Carima Wharton of Fountain Inn, SC; four brothers, Carl Wharton of Liberty, SC, Ezell (Hurley) Wharton of Greenville, SC, Rev. Paul Wharton of Greenwood, SC, Carvin Leach of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Kathy (Bobby) Phelps of Simpsonville, SC, Gloria Wharton of Greenville, SC, Georgia (Michael) Fowler of Fountain Inn, SC; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Mt. Carmel AME Life Center, with Rev. Cornell Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home. Beasley Funeral Home, Fountain Inn is in charge of arrangements.
