Mr. Calvin Johnson, age 88, of 115 Ashley Oaks Drive, Simpsonville, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Laurens, SC, he was a son of the late Martin Luther Johnson and Floree Montgomery Johnson. He was a member and served on the Steward Board at Poplar Spring AME Church, Laurens. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Johnson of the home; one daughter, Roselyn Gray of Enoree; two brothers, Willie Roy (Jessie Ruth) Johnson of Gray Court and Marvin Johnson of Enoree; one sister, Freddie Allen of Fairfield, CA and two grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the Poplar Spring AME Church, with Rev. Roland Sigman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be Monday, August 5, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Beasley Funeral Home, Laurens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the local Cancer Society. The family is at the home.
